About CBDC

The Community Biodiversity Development and Conservation Programme (CBDC) is a global initiative developed by governmental and non-governmental organisations (GOs and NGOs) involved in agricultural initiatives in Africa, Asia and Latin America, in cooperation with Northern partners. Our purpose is to strengthen the ongoing work of farming communities in conserving and developing the agricultural biodiversity that is vital to their livelihood and food security.

Partners and Donors

The program includes 11 partner  project implementing organisations located in Africa, South East Asia and Latin America, and is financed by four donor organisations: IDRC (Canada), Hivos (the Netherlands), SIDA (Sweden) and the Development Fund (Norway).

The CBDC is currently in its second phase, running from 2000 - 2004. The first phase was started in 1995 and ended in 1999. This website informs you, among other things, about the partners, our approaches, activities, results and other issues within our concern.
