Principal activities:
- survey of farmers' management of local genetic diversity of small grain
cereals and indigenous vegetables;
- collection, characterisation and evaluation of farmers' varieties;
- strengthening farmers' seed management;
- promotion of the utilisation of farmers' varieties;
- strengthening farmers' cultivation of indigenous vegetables.
The project was initiated in 1996. The first steps are to
inventorise the genetic diversity and farmers' management. The project targets
at farmers' management of seeds of the local varieties and supports the
cultivation and utilisation of indigenous vegetables.
