Unitarian Service Committee of Canada (NARS)The CBDC program in Mali is an integral part of the Douentza program in northern Mali, where USC-Mali and its partners have a good knowledge of the social dynamics and the development problems. It involves four rural communes and about 20,000 direct beneficiaries.Areas of activity within CBDC objectives:
Action related to the Participatory Management of Genetic Resources As Food Security in Douentza is linked to the development of traditional agriculture, from the outset the activities have concerned the completion of studies of technical production itineraries in farming conditions in order to identify the constraints to increased productivity and higher overall yield. From the results of the investigations, it has been possible to develop a technological package for improving cropping techniques to be popularized among the peasants. Also, three areas of strategic activity, taking into account local climatic, soil and socio-economic conditions, have been adopted. These areas work towards ensuring sustainable Food Security. They relate to the fact that land, water and labour are the main resources needed for good agricultural performance. |
