Hat Muang Nan Network, Project Nan Province (NGO)
Principal activities:
- survey and documentation of genetic diversity, farmers’ seed systems,
conservation and development of rice and local vegetables;
- collection, characterisation and dissemination of traditional varieties of
rice and vegetables;
- training of farmers in PGR, conservation and development (PVS and PPB);
- on-farm conservation
The project is implemented in the Nan Province in the North
of the country. It works with local vegetables like eggplant, cucumber,
chili-pepper, bottle gourd, lima bean and, of course, rice. The focus is on the
conservation of the indigenous varieties at the community level. The project
increases farmer access to genetic diversity and conserves these materials at
the community level.
